This article primarily focuses on the GATE 2026 Syllabus. To facilitate admission to ME/M. Tech and Ph.D. programs at the most prestigious universities in the country, the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IITG), will administer the GATE 2026 exam. General aptitude, engineering mathematics, and core engineering disciplines are the three main elements of the GATE syllabus that are covered at the graduation level.

The GATE Syllabus 2026 was made available by IIT Guwahati at gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Candidates who wish to ace the GATE 2026 exam need to have a firm grasp of the syllabus to become familiar with the important subjects and section weights.

Important Changes in GATE 2026

New Papers/Subjects

  • Geomatics Engineering (GE) and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NM) were introduced; thus, there are thirty papers under GATE.
  • A new paper under the umbrella of Engineering Sciences (XE) is Energy Science (XE-I).

Two Paper Option

  • To further widen the options, students shall be allowed to sit for two papers from approved combinations.

Relaxed Eligibility

  • Eligibility has been relaxed to allow application for the exam from students studying in the third year of their undergraduate program.

Sections & Weightage

  • Engineering mathematics and general aptitude are the compulsory papers for most of the exams in which they carry 30% weightage together.
  • General aptitude͏ carries 15%, and the remaining 85% is for the subject in the AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH, ST, and XL papers.͏

GATE 2026 Syllabus: Overview

IIT Guwahati (IITG) will administer the 2026 Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. For 30 different disciplines, including ME, CE, EE, CH, EC, CS, DA, XE, AE, IN, and more, the GATE 2026 Exam will be held. Every time a new branch is launched, information will be posted here.
